Byron Hall
The Center for Behavioral Services
Supported Independence
At Absecon Manor’s Byron Hall, we have created The Center for Behavioral Services. Our mission is to provide high-quality care for individuals with behavior problems that are “unmanageable” or “unsafe” in traditional settings. All behavior has meaning and our goal is to understand what the individual is trying to communicate through their behavior.
We strive to develop treatment methods that decrease the behavior while maintaining the individual’s dignity.
Services
Assessment & Diagnostics
Every resident/patient at Byron Hall is given a personalized plan of care, involving the resident/patient, family, and our interdisciplinary care team. Each plan is based on a medical/cognitive assessment, addressing the resident/patient’s changing needs on a physical, psychosocial and psychiatric level.

We provide a wide range of resident/patient services, including:
- Nursing care focused on maximizing potential
- Medication evaluation and adjustment
- Ongoing medical and psychiatric evaluation
- Specially designed therapeutic and recreational activities
- Large group, small group and one-on-one activities, such as: life skills, exercise, music, art, social and outdoor programs
Features:
- Private rooms (based on behavioral needs) and semi-private rooms
- Open floor plans to enhance and encourage freedom of movement
- Family style dining service
- Snoozelen room designed for tranquility and relaxation
- Aromatherapy
- Beauty/barber shop
- Enclosed outdoor secure courtyard
During the resident/patient’s stay, we conduct family support group meetings, as well as ongoing education, support and counseling to family members and friends. Family and friends are an important part of care planning, and our conferences allow for their valuable input.
Facilities & Staff
Byron Hall is designed to meet the unique needs of our residents/patients. During the design and construction process, we made sure that our resident/patient’s special requirements became our priority. Furniture, lighting, colors and designs were chosen to provide a therapeutic, attractive and safe environment.
Our interdisciplinary team, led by geriatricians and geripsychiatrists, direct the resident/patient’s individual plan of care. Additionally, our high staff-to-resident/patient ratio allows us to provide each individual with the maximum amount of expertise and compassionate care.
